Our third “snippet” covers one of the new Soils options (SAM3).  This involves establishing and maintaining herbal leys on improved grassland with a mixture of grasses, legumes, and herbs.  This is paid at £382/ha and its aim is to provide varied root structures to improve soil health.   Existing herbal leys should be eligible which makes this payment look even more attractive.  More information is at: SFI Handbook for the SFI 2023 offer and we hope SFI 2023 will open for applications in late August.
