The NFU has held meetings with Defra this week to discuss the crisis in the milk market and has set up an online platform asking farmers to write to their MPs to demand government action.  The NFU is asking Government to provide financial grants for dairy farmers impacted by coronavirus market disruption similar to those given to the retail and hospitality sector; to investigate private storage aid and other schemes to prevent the disposal of milk and to ensure the NHS, prisons and military all source British milk.
