FARM DIVERSIFICATION WORKSHOPS

We are getting lots of calls about farm diversification following the recent announcement about the Growth Programme grant.  Farmers wanting to diversify may want to attend two free workshops being held on:

  • Wednesday 27th November: The LDNPA and National Trust have organised a diversification workshop at Nibthwaite Grange Farm, LA12 8BD starting at 10.30am with a farm walk, lunch from 12-1pm and then talks from 1pm.  Veronica will be talking about the Growth Programme grant and the host farmers, John Atkinson and Maria Benjamin will be talking about their farm diversification enterprises which add value to the farm’s produce including selling meat, soap, wool and fleeces direct to the public.  Book a place by e mailing:  Cleasby@NationalTrust.org.uk
  • Tuesday 3rd December: The Farmer Network has organised an evening workshop at the Crooklands Hotel LA7 7NW near Junction 36 of the M6.  John Welbank of Ireby Green Farm is talking about his diversified enterprises including a static caravan site, farm café and a new farm shop.  John also has experience of planning applications and developing business plans.  Veronica will talk about the Growth Programme grant and Armstrong Watson and THW Solicitors will be there to talk about the tax and legal aspects of diversifying.  The meeting starts at 7pm and please book on 01768 868615 or e mail:  admin@thefarmernetwork.co.uk

Both workshops are free but booking is essential.
