Register your interest now and sign up from 18th September
This week, Defra announced that farmers can sign up to SFI 2023 from 18th September and the RPA has been emailing farmers inviting them to express an interest in applying early for the scheme. This is later than hoped but at least Defra is committing to opening the scheme in September. Complete the Register your Interest form and find out more at: SFI application dates for 2023.
SFI 2023 will include “actions” covering soils, moorland, hedgerows, integrated pest management, nutrient management, farmland wildlife, buffer strips and low-input grassland. The guidance notes were updated in August and can be read here.
FARMERS WITH SFI 2022 AGREEMENTS - WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Farmers with SFI2022 agreements are also being emailed to register their interest in SFI 2023 and will be able to apply to the 2023 scheme for land that is not part of their 2022 agreement. For land that is in SFI 2022, farmers need to be comply with their agreement conditions until the end date.
