The Farmer Network is offering free one-to-one advice to help farmers review their businesses post-Brexit.  This is available as part of the Cumbria Growth Catalyst programme, led by Cumbria Business Growth Hub™ and funded through Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership.

The Agriculture Bill is proposing the phase out of direct payments from 2021-2027 and the introduction of a new Environment Land Management Scheme that will replace these direct payments and existing Stewardship Schemes.  Our business health check tool is designed to help farmers understand more about these proposed changes and consider their options for the future.  The business health check will take around 2 hours and will include a review of the farm’s accounts, information about the proposals in the Agriculture Bill, consideration of the business’ strengths and weaknesses and possible opportunities for future development.

Farmer Network Project Manager, Ruth Kendal, said: “this service is about providing farmers with the information they need about the proposed changes to support payments, helping them understand what these might mean for their businesses and providing support to consider what changes might be necessary for them to survive and develop.”
