Foundation for Common Land Hill Farming Training

The Farmer Network acts as the local facilitator for the Foundation for Common land’s hill farming training in Cumbria.  This programme started in 2011 initially with the help of funding from the Prince’s Countryside Fund and organises training courses for conservation professionals about hill farming using farmers themselves as trainers.

The training is now offered to conservation organisations on a charged basis and we have recently organised courses for Natural England and the Lake District National Park Authority with further courses planned for these organisations and the National Trust.  The aim is to give conservation professionals working with farmers a better understanding about how hill farms operate.  For more details, please contact Kate Gascoyne on 01768 881462.
