The Environment Agency (EA) is doing more farm checks this year and farmers are being urged to prepare for the Winter especially after such a wet year. The EA recommends having six months of storage to help comply with the Farming Rules for Water requirement to spread only according to crop and soil need. They are advising farmers to cover their stores to reduce the amount of rainwater getting into slurry and to clear guttering and drains before the Winter. Read more here.
