A wide range of farmers, and other organisations attended the RAISE Cumbria Community Forest farm walk at Welton Farm on Thursday hosted by Jim Campbell and organised by the Farmer Network. RAISE have helped with funding for hedge creation, orchard planting and some agro-forestry including group planting of traditional hardwood species and other planting areas. Jim Campbell explained that the whole scheme was based around the farm’s sheep flock which continues to take centre stage on the farm, but that the tree planting scheme and the creation of a dog walking park, were entirely complimentary to the farm business as well as delivering many other benefits in future to nature and the local community.
