This month marks ten years since AB Energy Centre began — one van, two men, and a desk in the bedroom of my parents’ semi-detached house.
In 2015, we stored our parts in my late Nanna’s garage. Every job mattered, and every pound counted (still does). What we did have was the drive, the skills, and the willingness to do a great job.
Since then, we’ve worked from:
• a log cabin in the back garden,
• a 300 sq ft unit at Warwick Mill,
• our first proper industrial site at South Mill,
• and today, Maryholme Industrial Estate — a site we now own and operate as our long-term home.
We’ve grown from a father-and-son partnership into a 14-strong team delivering renewable energy installations and specialist maintenance across the North of England and South of Scotland.
Today, we maintain around 600 biomass boilers and have become the largest and most capable biomass maintenance provider in the region — something we’re genuinely proud of.
This milestone belongs to the people around us:
• engineers and apprentices who raise the standard every single day,
• an office team who keep the business running, no matter how busy we get,
• loyal clients who trust us with their heat and power systems year after year,
• and suppliers and partners whose support allows us to deliver at the level we do.
To all of you — thank you. The success of this business is built on your effort, trust, and commitment.
What hasn’t changed in a decade is how we work: integrity, technical excellence, clear communication, and doing the job properly — whether that’s servicing a 15-year-old boiler or installing a large commercial Solar PV system.
The next decade will be about strengthening the team, expanding our capability, and developing Maryholme into a first-class operational hub.
