At the Cereals event this week, George Eustice announced new information about the Sustainable Farming Incentive 2022 including:
- an “Improved Grassland Soils Standard” with payments of up to £70/ha;
- an “Arable & Horticultural Soils Standard” with payments of up to £60/ha;
- funding for assessing habitats and the management of moorland/rough grazing;
- funding for a Health & Welfare Annual Review including vet costs and testing e.g. for BVD in cattle and anthelmintic resistance in sheep.
The new soil standards for improved grassland and arable/horticulture are different from those originally announced in the SFI pilot with substantially higher payment rates.
