Transporter authorisations are valid for 5 years and a significant number are due for renewal in 2022.  Authorisations are required on journeys over 65km with two types: Type 1 (short journey) required for journeys up to 8 hours and Type 2 (long journey) for journeys over 8 hours.  Check the expiry of your current authorisation and apply for renewal at the earliest possible opportunity - you do not need to retake the assessment.  Transporters found to be operating without valid authorisation risk heavy penalties.  Contact APHA’s Welfare in Transport team for a renewal pack or to discuss any queries.
