In May 2024 we launched our Women in Ag group, with more than 65 women attending the first meeting. We wanted to emulate the Women in Ag groups that the network has facilitated in Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales. Women in agriculture play a pivotal role and one that is often overlooked. Women make up 55% of the workforce, but only if you include unpaid and family labour (source NFU Online). Since that initial meeting we have held a farm software workshop, a Women in Ag Wellbeing event which was well attended with an array of speakers from the Northeast.
