United Utilities announced yesterday that the hosepipe ban due to start on 5th August has been called off. Although reservoir levels are still low, the recent wetter weather has reduced demand from customers. However, UU says that the long-range forecast is for relatively dry weather into the Autumn so future restrictions are still a possibility if more rain doesn’t arrive and if there is a significant increase in demand.
