During her speech, Emma Reynolds also said that, so far, only 57% of farmers have agreed to the 12 month extensions of Mid-Tier Stewardship agreements due to expire on 31st December. There is a deadline of Thursday 27th November to accept the extension so don’t miss out. Some farmers are concerned that if they accept the 12 month extension, they won’t be able to apply for SFI on this land until the end of their agreement next December; but SFI is unlikely to be available until Spring/Summer next year with no guarantee of what will, or won’t, be funded. Given Defra’s track record the launch is likely to be delayed.
