GREEN HOMES GRANTS
This scheme is now open with the government paying at least two-thirds of the cost of home improvements that save energy, up to £5,000. Eligible improvements include: solid wall, under-floor, cavity wall or roof insulation, air source or ground source heat pumps and solar thermal. More details are on the Energy Saving Trust website.
GIGABIT VOUCHER SCHEME
Rural businesses and households with broadband speeds of less than 30Mbps can apply for vouchers to support the cost of installing new gigabit-capable connections if they get together with at least one other household/business. In Cumbria and Northumberland, the voucher is worth double that available in other areas. For more information click on: Gigabit Voucher Scheme.
WESTMORLAND DALES BUILDING RESTORATION GRANTS
Friends of the Lake District have launched a new grant scheme for conservation of traditional farm buildings in the Westmorland Dales. The grant will provide 80% of the costs prioritised on buildings that are highly visible in the landscape and that have a proposed future use (not residential).
