GRANTS AND SUPPORT SCHEMES

Recently, there have been a lot of announcements from Defra about different grant schemes which can be confusing and overwhelming for farmers (and advisers!).  Veronica is doing a grant update on Monday evening and has also produced a briefing summarising what we know so far.  Click the link below to download a copy.

FARMING TRANSFORMATION FUND – FARM PRODUCTIVITY SCHEME NOW OPEN

The Farm Productivity scheme within the “Farming Transformation Fund” opened this week with a deadline of 16th March for the first application stage.  There is a 40% grant for equipment to improve productivity through:

  • the use of robotic or autonomous equipment and systems (eg robotic milkers & feeders);
  • the installation of slurry acidification equipment.

The scheme has a minimum grant of £35,000 (ie minimum spend of £87,500) so is for large scale investments and the maximum grant is £500,000.  More information is in the grant manual which can be viewed here.

FARMING IN PROTECTED LANDSCAPES – OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS

This week, Defra also announced it is moving to a rolling application window for the rest of the Farming in Protected Landscapes programme.  This is available for farmers and land managers in National Parks and AONBs for projects related to four themes:  Climate, Nature, People and Place. Contact your local National Park or AONB for details.
