FUTURE OF FARM SUPPORT

On Monday, Environment Secretary, George Eustice MP, set out the roadmap for the forthcoming changes to farm support.  The ‘Path to Sustainable Farming’ document, sets out more detail on the changes and what they will mean for farmers.  We already knew that the Basic Payment Scheme would be phased out by 2028, but this document gives more details including a halving of BPS by 2024, delinking of BPS from land, a lump sum exit scheme and more detail about ELMS and what will happen to Stewardship over the transition period.  Also included was information about a Farming Investment Fund and grants for slurry storage. For a summary of the document see: Changes to farming in England.
