Slurry Storage and Management – Farm Tour, Grayrigg Village Hall – Cumbria

Join the Catchment Sensitive Farming programme for a visit to 2 farms in the Grayrigg area to discuss slurry storage and management.

2 Farm Visits: Slurry Storage & Management

Join the Farmer Network and Catchment Sensitive Farming Officers for visits to two farms to look at slurry storage and management solutions. Learn how to stay compliant with the Farming Rules for Water and maximise the nutritional value of your slurry.

  • 10.30am Meet at Grayrigg Village Hall for tea and coffee and introductory talks.
  • 11.15am Visit to David Galbraith at Sunny Bank Farm, Grayrigg, Kendal, England, LA8 9BU

David runs a 430 acre dairy farm and installed a new concrete slurry tower in 2024 with 6 months+ capacity. We will view his new store and discuss how this investment is reducing fertiliser costs.

  • 12.45pm Lunch at Grayrigg Village Hall
  • 1.30pm Visit to Mike Packham at Docker Hall, Kendal LA8 0DB to see his slurry storage facilities. We will be joined by John Long who will discuss the use of Slurry Bugs.
  • 2.45pm finish and return to Grayrigg Institute.

Please share lifts where possible leaving cars at the Institute as parking is limited.
