ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN – £500 million for Landscape Recovery projects

Defra’s 5 year Environmental Improvement Plan (EIP) was published on Monday 1st December.  The Plan includes a target of 250,000ha of wildlife-rich habitats being created or restored by 2030 with £500 million allocated to the Landscape Recovery scheme and £85 million to improve and restore peatlands.  This funding for Landscape Recovery comes at a time when DEFRA is considering the bids submitted by schemes that have been developed over the past two years including the Glenderamackin scheme upstream of Keswick.
