Defra is consulting about offering farmers a one-off lump sum payment in 2022 to leave the industry and to ‘delink’ Direct Payments from land from 2024.  The consultation includes options for reference periods, the conditions that will be placed on the lump sum offer and a proposed cap of £100,000 on the payment.  See: Lump Sum and Delinked Payments Consultation for details.
