The Restart Grant scheme provides a grant of up to £18,000 for hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym businesses to enable them to reopen safely. The grant is being administered by Local Authorities and is open for applications. Businesses must be rate paying and have been trading on 1st April 2021. Note the grant is not automatic (unlike previous rounds of the Local Restrictions Grant) so you do need to apply – contact your Local Authority.
It is expected that more funding will be made available for Local Authorities to run a further round of the Additional Restrictions Grant scheme. This is for businesses that were impacted by the most recent lockdown restrictions but which could not claim the Local Restrictions Support grant eg B&Bs not paying business rates. Again keep checking your Local Authority website for details.
The government backed Recovery Loan Scheme launched in April and replaces the Bounce Back and CBIL loan schemes. This is available from the main banks but note this scheme is 80% underwritten by the Government (not 100% as was the case with Bounce Back Loans.)
