The Rural Payments Agency says that most farmers should have had their 2nd BPS instalment paid in early October in addition to the 1st instalment paid in August. We understand that payment statements have not yet been sent out, but you should check this when received. Note that there won’t be another payment in December – the 2nd instalment was made early to help cashflow. The overall BPS payment for 2024 will be at least 50% less than in 2020 and we won’t know the payments from 2025 onwards until after the October budget announcement. BPS is due to be phased out by 2028 but how this will be done over the next 3 years is not yet finalised.
