BLUETONGUE RESTRICTED ZONE FROM 1ST JULY

From 1 July 2025 the Restricted Zone (RZ) will be extended to cover all of England which means you can move animals within England without a specific bluetongue licence or pre-movement testing. This is not the case when moving animals to Scotland and Wales.  If you suspect bluetongue, you must report it immediately to the APHA. A duty vet will discuss the situation with you and if they cannot rule out bluetongue, they will decide whether an investigation is needed.  Livestock keepers are encouraged to discuss BTV-3 vaccinations with your vet to determine if it is right for your animals. If you vaccinate your animals, you must report it within 48 hours. See GOV.UK for more information.
