Following the report last week of cases in Norfolk and Suffolk, Bluetongue virus BTV-3 has now been confirmed in a single bull at a farm near Withernsea in the East Riding of Yorkshire. A 20km Temporary Control Zone has been put in place and this can be viewed on Defra’s Interactive Map. Bluetongue virus can be spread by:

- movement of infected animals and animal products,
- pregnant animals transmitting the virus to their young.
