This week, Defra issued more information about the Animal Health and Welfare Pathway . The programme is set to start in Spring 2022 with a vet visit funded through Sustaianble Farming Incentive 2022. They will undertake a health and welfare review, including diagnostic testing for BVD and anthelmintic resistance. Farmers may then have access to Animal Health and Welfare grants which will be launched later in 2022. A payment by results programme is also in the planning stages, which will reward farmers for achieving higher welfare outcomes by supporting the ongoing costs involved in delivery.
