There has been concern for a number of years about the spread of soft rush in upland areas. This workshop is part of a research project involving the Universities of Lancaster and Liverpool, as well as Natural England. Join AHDB for an event hosted by Mark Exelby at The Hutts Farm, Grewelthorpe, near Ripon, one of the nine commercial farms that are involved in RamCompare project. Launched in 2015, RamCompare, the UK’s commercial progeny test, is testing performance recorded rams from terminal sire breeds. Results incorporate new estimated breeding values (EBVs), released in May, coincide with the recent relaunch of Signet’s recording services for Terminal Sire breeders. Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Farming in Cumbria – Farmer Workshop

As you’ll know, the UK Climate Change Act 2008 set an ambitious target for the UK to reduce its Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by 80% by 2050. Government recently published a Clean Growth Strategy which proposes approaches to meet reductions by both 2032 and by 2050. Agricultural emissions account for 10% of UK greenhouse gas emissions and currently progress towards targets is slow. Therefore Defra have commissioned a short project to consider the feasibility of GHG mitigation measures on farm.…
