We will be looking at faecal egg counts (FEC), monitoring growth rates in lambs, testing for worm resistance and limiting the use of ivermectin to preserve the dung beetle populations.
We will have a practical session looking at some FEC, Mark Thompson from Craven vets will demonstrate simple procedures such as regular weighing of lambs to help farmers assess the worm burden.
Eurion Thomas from Techion will explain the FECPAK system and how timing and targeting the right animals is crucial when it comes to drenching/worming. By recording data over time specific to a flock FECPAKG2 stores data, making it easily accessible to farmers so that they are able to easily identify risks and use the information to enable changes to improve animal welfare and reduce costs.
