Northumberland Farmer Network

Northumberland is the 5th largest county in England and the county borders with Scotland, Cumbria, Tyne & Wear and County Durham.

Northumberland is a vast landscape of moorland and farmland, with a 64 mile stretch of coastline. 256 of the farms in Northumberland are based in the National Park.

The average farm size in the Northeast (2023) was 145 hectares. This is the largest among all English regions with 52% livestock farms and 19% cereals.

The Royal Countryside Fund were played a pinnacle part in funding a feasibility study to determine if farmers in Northumberland wanted a network – there was resounding yes, and in December 2022, we applied to the National Lotteries Community Fund Farmer. We were successful and Northumberland became part of The Farmer Network launching in January 2024.
