Bulk Buying of Fuel

Several members have asked for help to join with other members to purchase inputs and services more cheaply. We currently offer the option of buying fuel together (white/red diesel and heating oil.) In Cumbria we are trialling ordering once a month, order dates  for 2012 are:

6 January, 3 February, 2 March, 30 March, 27 April, 1 June 2012

Our Coordinator takes your order details and comes back to you with a price before the order is confirmed. Typical savings are £200 - £500 per year, as a result of fuel companies being able to save transport costs and as a result of bulk buying brings the unit cost down.

We also have a contact with a broker to buy electricity on a national scale.

Both the above services are included within the membership fee, at the moment. The Network does not make any money from these services, we simply work to find members the best price. As there are many buying groups in Cumbria, we do not anticipate moving into other purchase areas, but this depends on demand from members.
