Last year we ordered over 1.4 million litres fuel, saving members approximately £42,000.

Gave 107 members £20,000 in training grants for technical training.

Organised 84 technical meetings and demonstrations to help keep members up to date with 2,000+ farmers attending.

Sourced funds to give 9 young people £17.4k in grants and £116k in low interest loans to develop their businesses.

Organised 15 farm walks and attended 4 shows/events to educate the public.

Over 1,100 hours were given by farmers and staff on a voluntary basis to support the Networks activities.

We are a self-help not-for-profit farmer support group that is independently run by farmers for farmers, operating in Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales.

 Full membership is from £50 plus VAT per year.

By joining the Network you will benefit from a host of valuable services, you will also increase your profits far in excess of the annual membership fee that we charge.

Can I Join?

Anyone can join the Farmer Network. Full members have voting rights and need a farm holding number with their farm holding located in Cumbria or the Yorkshire Dales LEADER area. Go to the 'Yorkshire Dales' page and click on the 'Boundary Area Map to see if you qualify.'

If you do not have a holding number you join as an Associate with no voting rights but access to all the benefits.

By becoming a member you will also be supporting young people new into the industry and helping to educate the public about farming methods and the countryside.


Membership Offer

Cost savings on fuel, heating oil, plastic recycling, electric, carcass disposal, business/technical advice and other products or services on request. Fuel discounts 2- 3p litre on average, typical savings £200 = £500 per year. Plastic an average saving of £2 per liner.

Free £200 training vouchers for 16 - 24 years in Cumbria.

Group Funding – the Network can apply for group funding and manage the grant for groups. We offer groups of members up to 3 days free support for applications. Previous successes include the purchase of weed wipers, mobile sheep pens, and soil aerators for group sharing.

The Jason Kanabus Scheme offers young people aged 18 - 30 years low interest loans of up to £25,000 and a grant of up to £4,000 to start or expand farm/farm related business/enterprises.

Grants and Advice – the Network can help and advice on new regulations, business plans and grant applications offering discounts for members.15% discount for Network members for farmers applying for funding to diversify.

Provision of a 'Regulation Checklist' in disc or folder format to help with inspections and ensures that all records are in one place ready for inspection.

'Cross Check '- Members get more than 20% discount on costs for a visit to your farm to check the office paperwork and give you peace of mind before a Cross Compliance or Farm Assurance Audit.

We organise livestock transport tests with a local provider.

Problem solving – our Farmer Coordinators understand your problems and can call on many other experts if needed. Using specialist advice and ideas sharing we design and organise events that farmers request, we find the specialist that farmers ask for and the funding.

Network members receive the 'Grassroots Newsletter' for regular updates on current activities and topical issues.
